Week 14: Mist

Seeding spinach

Seeding spinach

This week’s pack should contain melons; blueberries; carrots; cucumbers (from the new crop); eggplant; peppers; tomatoes; onions; sweet summer turnips; head lettuce or spicy mix; herbs; rutabaga, chard, or beets; and eggs.

Extra Extra!  Please let Jen know if you want large eggplants ($3 each) baba ganouj recipe; bulk blueberries ($4/pint); rose hips ($5/bag); salsa verde pack with onions, garlic, cilantro and tomatillos ($7) recipe here; or a pesto pack ($7) recipe.

rosehips14

These rose hips are so big, the outer skin is thick. They are jam packed with vitamin C. They can be dried for tea or made into jelly. I just nibble on them, avoiding the seeds and hairs inside.

My favourite time of day is the morning.  At this time, it is still cool, and the light is so special.  A gentle mist rises from the river.  It is the time before telephones are ringing and traffic has not started yet (not that there is much traffic here).  It is a nice time to quietly get some work done and contemplate life.  Or chase the sheep that got out of their fence and fix the blue hose I accidentally sliced…!

I will leave you with a few photos from the week.  See you all soon!

  1. Hi Jen,

salsa verde pack for sure, and an eggplant as well!

Do you have choir practice this week? If this is a good week, we would be delighted to feed you.

    George
