Week 16: Harvest Moon

I'm seeing more snakes, frogs, and toads this fall. It's a good sign!

I’m seeing more snakes, frogs, and toads on the farm this fall. Even though this little dude looks kind of angry, it’s a good sign!

This week in the pack, we expect to have carrots or beets; small salad mix; peppers; cherry tomatoes; other tomatoes; kale or turnip; basil; leeks or onions; apples or pears.

On the farm last week we continued to have unusually excellent weather until Friday when Marshall and David were rushing to bring in squash, peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes because of forecasted frost.  Everyone on the farm was making lots of tomato and basil preserves.

Quick! Bring in the peppers before the frost...

Quick! Bring in the outdoor peppers, eggplants,  and tomatoes before the frost… Don’t worry, we’ve got more growing inside the hoophouses.

The squash went in the seedling greenhouse to cure before being sold

This will be Kevin and Victoria’s last week on the farm.  When Kevin collected his pay on Friday,  he said “We’re going to miss this place.”  We’re going to miss you too, Kevin and Victoria.

Victoria said she’d sell some of her art if anyone is interested.  Click on this art link.

Below are a few more photos from this week:
